North Dundas United Soccer Club
Concussion Policy
North Dundas United Soccer Club recognizes the potential danger and long-term health consequences of this difficult to diagnose form of traumatic brain injury. This Policy is intended to provide easy-to-understand guidelines related to players who have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having a concussion.
The Policy is for Players and Club Officials.
Awareness - Sport Concussion Assessment Tool (SCAT)
All registered Club Officials, Players and Parents will be encouraged to familiarize themselves with the FIFA SCAT 3 for Adults or Children at the start of each season, and will be encouraged to download the SCAT3 app to their mobile device.
When a Club Official, Player or Parent volunteers to act as the Team Representative at the beginning of each game or Coach at each practice, they are accepting the responsibility to make decisions with respect to concussion related injuries that may occur to the team players during that particular game.

Return To Play (RTP) Policy
Concussions rarely (less than 10% of occurrences) involve loss of consciousness. However, in the event of loss of consciousness the Team Representative will call 911 or will instruct another individual to call 911.
When, during a game, a Player is suspected of having a concussion, the Team Representative will remove the Player from the session and will not allow the player to return to play for the remainder of the session. The Team Representative will keep the Player out even if the Player insists, "I'm OK now".
When the Player returns for a future game, if, based on the Team Representative’s understanding of concussion symptoms, the Team Representative suspects the player is still exhibiting symptoms, they will keep the player from the activity.
